Community
The Rag & Famish is deeply committed to giving back to the community who support us everyday we open our doors. As a family run business, owners Pete and Anna Calligeros are passionate about assisting the less fortunate. Pete is also the president of the Harbourside Liquor Accord, a position which allows him to actively shape and support the North Shore Community. Subsequently, the Rag is involved in various groups and fundraisers to help provide aid and relief. Some examples include:
HAVE A PIE TO BEAT THE DRY

In order to help our struggling farmers, the Rag introduced the idea of ‘Have a pie to beat the dry!’ We donated $1 from every pie for the month of August, as well as all staff tips to help the farmers in the drought. We managed to raise over $10.5K which was donated to Buy a Bale for drought relief.
NSW COUNTRY RUGBY ASSOCIATION
The Rag was also excited to donate $10K to the NSW Country Rugby Association. This is a cause very important to the Calligeros family, and they were thrilled to be able to get behind an association that encourages getting involved and having a go.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY @ THE RAG

The Rag is part owned and run by a predominantly female management team, so we wanted to take the opportunity to raise awareness of the gender pay gap for International Women’s Day 2019. We offered a 22% discount on food and drink between 5-7pm, as well as $10 Espresso martinis, Rose on tap, and beers from female owned breweries. It was a great day to celebrate all things female, and definitely something we want to repeat moving forward!
ANZAC DAY @ THE RAG

The Rag is always eager to celebrate our servicemen and women on Anzac Day. Through teaming up with various breweries and St Ives Rugby Club, we run two up in the courtyard every year to raise money for Legacy and provide support to families of service members.
There are various other organisations that the Rag & Famish partners with, notably the 18ft Skiffs as a longtime sponsor. We have donated to various causes including Ovarian Cancer Australia, Cystic Fibrosis Australia and Humpty Dumpty Foundation. The Rag is also privileged to donate gift vouchers for our upstairs restaurant to local schools, surf clubs and churches for fundraising purposes.
